This division specializes in the representation and placement of individual partners and small to large groups on a national and international basis. We pride ourselves on representing the interests of attorneys and groups NOT law firms. Over the past decade, the number of large and small IP group mergers taking place has been unprecedented. Our organization has been heavily involved in many of these mergers—some being the largest in IP history.
A Growing IP Marketplace
Prior to 2000, IP partnership lateral movement was nearly nonexistent. The movement that did occur developed from partners having prior relationships among each other and it was these connections that resulted in partners switching teams on occasion. This is not to say that this does not still take place today, but after the merging of major boutiques with GP firms which occurred in the mid to late 2000s, the number of general practice firms servicing IP has surged to over 350 practice groups among the AM and middle market law firms.
Today’s savvy partners realize that the best deal may lie outside of the circle of their relationships. Along with the vast number of firms now servicing IP, shopping the current marketplace for a new opportunity is much more complex than ever. In addition, with the emergence of law firms’ quests to service IP on a larger scale, it is not very easy to identify and vet these firms and determine the firm’s ability to offer competitive deals to build their group. The firms of yesterday and today may not be tomorrow’s firm leaders. We have the recruiting knowledge and operational infrastructure to vet this on behalf of the attorney we represent.

The reputation that we have developed in the IP arena enables us to shop the marketplace on behalf of the attorneys we represent (without compromising our client’s identity) and reach straight to the power base of a law firm to seek out our client’s desires and needs. Our methods for shopping the market allow our clients to make clear decisions on whether the marketplace can better their existing situation and, if not, which firm they would want to pursue—all while limiting their exposure in the midst of their search.
